Composer

My SoundCloud.

I was a chamber music composer earlier in life (albeit lacking formal training), with an active streak that ran mostly from 1996 until about 1999 (age 18-21). I composed a concerto for flute and piano, a set of six short pieces for brass quartet (basically, a quintet without French horn), odd martial stuff for brass and percussion, and other musical ramblings. Some of my work was performed in recitals at Wichita State University.

During the pandemic, I found my old blank music notation paper and took pencil-to-staff once again. The result is a new group of music, most of which has not been seen (or heard) by anyone. The most prominent composition out of this group is a tuba concerto, which I’m still tinkering with and isn’t finished, yet (as of 2024).

My process is to sketch out musical ideas via pencil and paper, develop those ideas at the keyboard, and then sooner or later work up a printed version. (I’ve been using this software since high school; yes, that’s 30+ years.)

I’m also going through my old compositions to update the “orchestration” and make other small changes.

The SoundCloud account above has some of my 1996-era work; in the future I’ll post my newer work on there. If you like what you hear, feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to entertain your thoughts.
